I’m (now-not-so) secretly one of those people who gets a bit of kick from inspiring travel quotes. I enjoy reading quotes from worldly, public figures as much as I love the words that come from the mouths of beloved fictional characters. I love it when I stumble upon original and quirky quotes that speak to my personal experience with travel, most of which I’ve added to this list of my 21 favourite travel quotes!
Whether you’re after a little bit of inspiration to finally book that trip you’ve been planning or you just love a good quote, these are a few of my favourite travel quotes that’ll inspire you to see the world:

“There is no greater education than travel.” – John Butcher

“I travel because I’d rather look back at my life saying ‘I can’t believe I did that’, instead of ‘if only I had…'” – Florine Bos

“There will be a few times in your life when all your instincts will tell you to do something, something that defies logic, upsets your plans, and may seem crazy to others. When that happens, you do it. Listen to your instincts and ignore everything else. Ignore logic, ignore the odds, ignore the complications, and just go for it.” – Judith McNaught

“The trouble is, you think you have time.” – Buddha

“I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell” – Belle, Beauty and the Beast

“If you don’t get out of the box you’ve been raised in, you won’t understand how much bigger the world is.” – Angelina Jolie

“Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.” – Albus Dumbledore

“With age comes wisdom. With travel, comes understanding. – Sandra Lake

“You will never be completely at home again, because part of your heart always will be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place.” – Miriam Adeney

“Nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.” – Nelson Mandela

“Better to see something once, than hear about it a thousand times.” – Asian Proverb

“Wanderlust consumed her; foreign hearts and exotic minds compelled her. She has a gypsy soul and a vibrant heart for the unknown” – D. Marie

“Come with me, where dreams are born and time is never planned.” – Peter Pan

“Blessed are the curious for they shall have adventures.” – Lovelle Drachman

“Let’s not travel to tick things off lists or collect half hearted semi treasures to be places in dusty drawers in empty rooms. Rather, we’ll travel to find grounds and rooftops and tiny hidden parks, where we’ll sit and dismiss the passing time, spun in the city’s web ’til we’ve surrendered, content to be spent and consumed. I need to feel a place while I’m in it.” – Victoria Erickson

“I’ve never been happier than when I am alone in a foreign city; it is as if I had become invisible.” – Storm Jameson

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell-Holmes

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” – Mark Twain

Don’t be scared to walk alone, don’t be scared to like it.” – John Mayer

There’s a whole world at your feet.” Mary Poppins

“So much of who we are is where we have been.” – William Langewische

Wow I really loved this! Have never heard most of these (and I’m obsessed with quotes) so it’s really nice to read some travel quotes that aren’t mainstream. Wrote some of these down in my notes, thank you <3
I love how you have given each quote an image! These are beautiful and incredibly inspiring.
